Description of Reiki
Reiki, founded by Dr. Miao Usui, is the gentle art of healing touch. "Rei" means present everywhere or Universal, and "Ki" means life force energy. Together, these Japanese words mean spiritually guided life force energy.
Reiki is based on the idea that the life force energy flows through our bodies, keeping us alive. If the energy paths in our bodies are blocked or disturbed, disease and illness may set in and cause the physical body to break down. Daily life stressors, poor diet and lack of exercise may contribute to these blockages. If you have low life force energy or the energy flow is blocked, you are more vulnerable to becoming stressed, depressed, or anxious and you may take longer to heal. Reiki is not a religion, but a simple and safe method of spiritual healing.
What to expect during a session
A Reiki session involves the practitioner laying their hands on or over certain points of the client's fully-clothed body as they relax on a table or zero gravity chair. Reiki activates or enhances a person's natural healing process, balancing the energy and thus allowing the body to heal itself. A discussion will take place between the client and practitioner to go over any health issues or concerns, as well as to set an intention for the session.
